The pool does not run every wave at once — each session is set to a single wave, and it changes hour by hour. Beginner settings through the middle of the day, advanced first thing in the morning or late at night, and a schedule that shifts between weekdays and weekends.

Things surfers ask.

Is there a wave pool in China?

Yes — though what you're looking for is properly called a surf pool. PerfectSwell® Hainan is a surf pool engineered for real surfing on ocean-style waves, not a waterpark attraction. It's the world's only surf pool on a tropical island, located in Wanning, Hainan.

Can you surf in China?

Absolutely. Hainan island is China's surf capital — year-round sessions at the PerfectSwell® Surf Pool in Wanning, plus seasonal ocean surfing at nearby Riyue Bay. Most international travelers can enter visa-free for up to 30 days.

Do I need to know how to surf?

No. The pool runs beginner sessions on whitewater and reform waves — you'll be up and riding on your first day with coaching.

What's the minimum age?

The normal guideline is age 6 and at least 1.2 m tall. Experienced younger children may be assessed by the coach; complete beginners who do not meet both guidelines cannot enter the surf pool.

How many waves do I get per session?

It depends on the wave type and your group size — but every 60-minute session gives you plenty of quality waves to work with.

Do I need to bring my own board?

Not required. The on-site surf shop has quality rental boards for every level and every wave type.

Can non-surfers watch?

Yes — comfortable viewing decks, a café, and a clubhouse. Spectators welcome and free.

Can I book just the pool, without a hotel package?

Yes. Standalone session booking is available. Trip packages combine the pool with accommodation, transfers, and support.

Is it worth flying to China for this?

What if I don't speak Chinese?
